How it works
How the free check works
You type your website’s address. In about 20 seconds you see how the site appears in search results and shared links, whether its domain has the records that protect its email, and what to fix first.
- Enter your address. Any public page works, such as your home page or a new product page. No sign-up.
- We read what’s public. The page, a few related public files and your domain’s public email records, the way a search engine or link preview reads them. We don’t run the page’s scripts, and nothing on your site changes.
- You get fixes in order. The most urgent first, in plain words, with steps for Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Framer or sites built from code.
If you saw DeployPostCheck in your logs
Requests marked DeployPostCheck mean someone used the free DeployPost website check on a page of your site.
What it is
DeployPost is a website check run by RTG Product Labs. A person types a public address, and the checker reads that page the way a search engine or link preview would, then explains what it found. Its requests identify themselves as:
DeployPostCheck/0.1 (+https://deploypost.com/check)
What it reads
- The page that was entered, and the same address with or without “www.”.
- The site’s robots.txt and sitemap, and the page’s share image. When the result offers to make a share image or site icon, up to two of the page’s logo images too, so they can be drawn with.
- The http:// version of the page, to see whether it moves to https://.
- One made-up address on the site, to see how missing pages answer.
- Up to 8 links from the page to the same site, to see whether they open.
- Up to 10 other pages of the site, taken from those links first and then from the sitemap, to read their titles, descriptions and search settings.
- Public email records for the domain (MX, SPF, DMARC, one standard signing record, and the MTA-STS, TLS reporting and BIMI settings), looked up through normal DNS. When the page shows an address on a domain with no MX records, the domain’s own server address too, because that is where mail goes instead.
- When the domain publishes them, its MTA-STS policy file (at mta-sts.domain) and its BIMI logo file.
It only reads. It never submits forms, signs in, sends email, or runs the page’s scripts.
How often
Each check makes at most 34 requests to the site and stops after 30 seconds. Results are reused for about 10 minutes, and the same site can be checked afresh at most 10 times an hour by everyone together. It does not crawl on its own: beyond the page that was entered, it reads at most 10 other pages of the site.
